Governor’s Wellness Awards for Innovation - recognizes RI businesses for creative and innovative programs and policies at their worksite.

WELCOA - a national company that recognizes businesses that have implemented wellness programs and policies that meet the standards set forth by the WELCOA organization.

C. Everett Koop Health Project - seeks to recognize worksite wellness programs that improve health by reducing health risks, reducing medical care costs, and that can document effectiveness of these goals.

Worksite Health Award Program- established by the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and BCBSRI to recognize organizations of all sizes that have begun to implement effective programs for their employees

The Partnership for Prevention “Innovation in Prevention Award” - identifies outstanding organizations that have implemented innovative and creative chronic disease prevention and health promotion programs.

On April 10, 2007 Rhode Island was designated the First Well State by the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA).  WELCOA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthier life styles for Americans through health promotion initiatives at the worksite.  The designation “Well State” means that at least 20% of the working population in Rhode Island (over 101,000 individuals) is working at WELCOA-certified Well Workplaces.  To date, 67 companies both large and small have been certified as Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum Well Workplaces.  Rhode Island’s achievement as the first Well State is a milestone accomplishment!  No other state has qualified as a Well State and only eight cities in the U.S. have been certified as Well Cities by WELCOA.
