Lyme Disease

High Risk Activities

Ticks are typically found in cool, wet places.  Common habitats for ticks include wooded areas, piles of debris, and high grasses.  Certain activities can place you in greater contact with tick habitats, such as:

  • Walking your dog
  • Playing with an outdoor pet
  • Horseback Riding
  • Playing sports and games in grassy areas
  • Golfing
  • Gardening
  • Hiking
  • Camping
  • Fishing
  • Hunting

When you engage in any of these activities, especially during peak tick months, it is extremely important to protect yourself against tick bites.
