Although Lyme disease is especially prevalent in Rhode Island, many Lyme disease patients have complained that their physicians have not been knowledgeable about Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.  For this reason, if you have Lyme or think you might have Lyme, it is important to look for or ask for a physician who has experience in diagnosing and treating tick-borne diseases.

Below is a list of institutions with physician referral services.  Some of these services are specifically for physicians with Lyme knowledge, while others can refer you to rheumatologists, neurologists, or infectious disease specialists.  In all these cases, it is best to ask what experience the physician has with Lyme disease.
