Ticks are arachnids, which means they are a lot like spiders and scorpions.  You may have seen those pea-sized brown dog ticks on your pets, but a lot of ticks are very tiny (about the size of a freckle), so small you might not notice one crawling on you!

Young ticks are about the size of a period at the end of sentence.
