Tick Testing for Lyme

Please note that IMUGEN provides testing services for the detection of B.burgdorferi (Lyme Disease Spirochete) by PCR only in lxodes scapularis ticks.

We do not perform testing services on any other type of tick. Any non-deer ticks (Dermacentor variabilis or Amblyoma americanum) that are received will be RETAINED FOR 14 DAYS. Please contact us at 800-246-8436 prior to the expiration of the 14 th day if you want your tick returned. Any remaining ticks will be discarded.

Requirements for Tick Testing

Ticks WILL NOT be tested if placed in alcohol or on tape.

Place tick in zip-lock bag, then into a padded envelope or crush proof container.

Fill out a sheet of paper or requisition with your name and address so a result can be mailed to you.

Please note that the charge for tick testing is $75.00.

Checks or signed credit card information must accompany ticks or testing will not commence. Ticks should be sent via regular or express mail to:

Results are available in approximately 15 business days following receipt of tick.
