Initiative for a Healthy Weight

Healthy Eating and Active Living Collaborative

What will the Collaborative do?

Meeting approximately four times per year, the Collaborative will work together to address the obesity epidemic in Rhode Island. Using Rhode Island’s Plan for Healthy Eating and Active Living as a roadmap, the Collaborative will work together to plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs and initiatives. For a preview of the plan, download the Rhode Island’s Plan for Healthy Eating and Active Living: Objectives pdf

Collaborative members may choose to be part of smaller groups that focus on areas that interest them the most. In these groups, members will develop and implement action plans to address specific objectives in Rhode Island’s Plan for Healthy Eating and Active Living. Potential groups include:

  • Active Living
  • Healthy Eating
  • Breastfeeding
  • Communications
  • Surveillance
  • Policy and Legislation
  • School, Worksite, Community, or Healthcare interventions

As a resource for collaborative members, IHW staff will provide technical assistance, training and resources to support Collaborative efforts. For more information or to join, email Eliza Lawson.
