Maintain a Healthy Weight

Maintaining a healthy weight is a struggle for many Rhode Islanders. From cutting fats to cutting sugars to cutting carbs, who can tell what is right for a healthy diet? And who has time to go to the gym or tackle that pile of exercise videos?

But being fit and healthy is simpler than fancy diets and complicated exercise routines. Did you know that something as simple as cutting out one 200-calorie soda per day can result in a 20-pound weight loss in one year! And if you were to add 15 minutes of walking a day, you’d lose 10 pounds a year!

The Initiative for a Healthy Weight is focusing on 4 key behaviors to address the obesity epidemic in Rhode Island. Refer to the different sections of this website to get tips on how you can make small changes in your lifestyle to make big changes in your weight.
