Nutrition

What can we do to encourage Rhode Islanders to eat healthier?

Improving nutrition, improving the energy balance, and decreasing obesity are national and state priorities. To reach these goals, we need to work at an individual level, encouraging people to make behavior changes. But we also need to work to address environmental factors that may keep people from eating healthy.

Through collaboration with partners, the Initiative for a Healthy Weight aims to improve the diets of all Rhode Islanders by targeting both individual and environmental factors that relate to nutrition. IHW is focusing on five major nutrition-related behavior changes:

By intervening at the community, institutional, and policy levels, IHW will work with together with community partners to make it easier for all Rhode Island residents to eat healthy!
