Physical Activity

Cardiovascular activities

Moderate and vigorous cardiovascular activity strengthens your heart and lungs and burns calories. It increases your heart rate, increases your breathing, and works your muscles. This type of activity should be part of your daily routine to help you reach or maintain a healthy weight and to help reduce the risk of disease. Cardiovascular fitness is needed for many activities that we perform every day, like walking the dog or climbing stairs. For examples of different intensity activities, download Physical Activity Examples pdf.
