Physical Activity

Strengthening activities

Strengthening activity requires you to move your muscles against resistance. Resistance can be in the form of weights, gravity, your body weight, or water. Strength training helps build strong muscles, and helps make every day chores like carrying groceries easier. Strength training can help you reach or maintain a healthy weight because it burns calories and prevents your body from losing muscle when you are losing weight. This type of activity also strengthens bones and protects against osteoporosis and bone fractures. For more information about these activities, got to Strengthening Activities Resources.
