Safe Rhode Island Strategic Planning

The Rhode Island Injury Community Planning Group

The name of this organization is the RI Injury Community Planning Group, hereafter known as the ICPG. The ICPG is a group of professionals representing a broad range of agencies and organizations concerned with building Rhode Island’s capacity to address injury and violence prevention.

Purpose

ICPG Mission:
The ICPGsupports injury prevention with science, collaboration, and resources to implement priority recommendations identified in the Rhode Island Injury Prevention Plan.

ICPG Vision:
A Rhode in which all injury prevention partners support residents to be safe and injury-free in their communities.

ICPG Outcomes:

  • State Infrastructure to support injury prevention initiatives in RI
  • Capacity for injury and violence surveillance
  • Capacity to assure program implementation
  • Capacity to support policy development

ICPG Strategic Goals:

  • Goal 1: Build a Strong Infrastructure for Injury Prevention
  • Goal 2: Coordinate statewide planning and implementation of injury prevention and control programs through the Injury Community Planning Group (ICPG)
  • Goal 3: Increase availability and utilization of injury data

ICPG Long-Term Goals/Vision:

  • Reduction in deaths and injuries caused by Falls
  • Reduction in deaths and injuries caused by Motor Vehicle Crashes
  • Reduction in deaths and injuries caused by Suicide

The purpose of the ICPG is to:

  1. promote injury prevention as a public health priority

  2. encourage injury prevention practitioners and others to act collectively on behalf of their injury prevention programs

  3. exchange ideas, strategies, materials, administrative policies, and procedures to improve and enhance injury prevention programs

  4. negotiate consensus positions for policies and programs to prevent injury

  5. provide an avenue for public health injury prevention practitioners to interact with philanthropic, professional, governmental, and voluntary organizations on issues that affect injury prevention

  6. identify resources for ongoing support of the mission as needed

  7. generate income for injury prevention in RI

  8. participate in the development, implementation and support of the Rhode Island Injury Prevention Plan

  9. collaborate with other injury prevention advocacy organization(s) in RI

Sub-Committees and Ad Hoc Committees

Purpose: Sub- Committees may be created to facilitate the work of the Steering Committee. Ad Hoc committees may be created on an as needed basis.

Function: Sub-Committees may include but are not limited to priorities identified in the RI Injury Prevention Plan:

  • Fall Injury Prevention
  • Motor Vehicle/ Transportation Injury Prevention
  • Suicide Prevention

Ad Hoc Committees may include but are not limited to:

  • surveillance
  • research and publication;
  • partnerships
  • policy development
  • strategic planning
  • fundraising
  • media
  • nominating committee
