Literature Review Summary: Effective Components of School-Based Violence Prevention Programs

Many people including, parents, teachers, community members, and students are interested in how to prevent violence in schools. There are hundreds of school-based violence prevention programs across the country, but only a small number of these have been evaluated and shown to work over time. Several publications have summarized successful programs. The following information is a listing of common elements found within these publications and which are considered to be part of effective violence prevention programming in schools.
