Source Water Assessment and Protection

HEALTH and the University of Rhode Island have completed assessments of the sources of all public water supplies in the state.  Summaries for the Community water suppliers' sources are available at the links below, or from your water supplier.

Assessments for Non-Community Public Water Systems are available from HEALTH by calling (401) 222 - 6867.

Each assessment contains the following:

  • The source of the supplier's water,
  • The treatment it receives before distribution,
  • The monitoring history of the system's water (what has been detected in the water),
  • A description of the Source Water Protection Area (SWPA),
  • The possible sources of contamination in the SWPA, and
  • The overall susceptibility of the source to contamination.

On the back, you will find:

  • A map of the SWPA,
  • Suggestions for how you can help to protect the quality your community's drinking water supplies, and
  • Contacts for further information.
