Office of Occupational and Radiological Health

The Office of Occupational and Radiological Health includes a number of regulatory and outreach programs. The mission of the various activities is to protect the public health and safety of children, workers, and the general public in schools, workplaces, and homes.
- Environmental Lead Program:
Through home assessments, regulatory enforcement, and licensing, the program works to protect the public, specifically children under the age of six, from lead in environment.
- Indoor Air Quality Program:
The program protects Rhode Islanders from unnecessary exposure to airborne asbestos fibers and radon, and works with schools and buildings owners on issues relating to indoor air quality.
- OSHA Consultation Program:
The promotion of workplace safety and health is the mission of this program, which works with high hazard industries in Rhode Island through free, consultation services.
- Radiation Control Program:
The program assures the safe use of radioactive materials, x-ray equipment, and tanning equipment in order to protect the Rhode Island public and workers from excessive exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
