Disability and Health Program
The Rhode Island Disability and Health Program aims to promote the health and wellness of Rhode Islanders with disabilities, prevent secondary conditions resulting from a disability and/or chronic health condition, and reduce health disparities between people with and without disabilities in Rhode Island.
The Program has four priority areas, which include:
- Inclusion of people with disabilities in all existing Department of Health Initiatives.
- Administration of community-based health promotion initiatives specifically for people with disabilities and environment modification to promote healthy behaviors and healthy living.
- Development of a comprehensive health service delivery system cable of providing high quality care to people with disabilities.
- A broad range of surveillance, data, and evaluation activities that highlight the health and wellness of people with disabilities.
