Disability and Health Program

Mission:
The Rhode Island Disability and Health Program aims to promote the health and wellness of Rhode Islanders with disabilities, prevent secondary conditions resulting from disabilities and chronic health issues, and reduce disparities between people with and without disabilities in Rhode Island.

Organizational Structure/History
The Rhode Island Disability and Health Program has been funded through a competitive cooperative agreement between the Rhode Island Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since 1989. The program is located within the Division of Family Health, Office of Families Raising Children with Special Health Care Needs. An advisory committee consisting of representatives from community-based organizations, health care providers, and people with disabilities, provides advice to the program.
