Funded Projects

PARI Center for Independent Living (PARI)
Funded by a grant from the Disability and Health Program, PARI administers a series of eight-week health promotion classes for individuals with disabilities enrolled in the Rhode Island Vocational Rehabilitation Program. As part of this funding, PARI will offer a health and leadership program for adolescents and young adults with disabilities.

Access 2 Adventure (A2A)
Funded by a grant from the Disability and Health Program, Access2Adventure provides opportunities for barrier free physical activity and recreation for people with disabilities Through a collaboration with PARI, A2A will provide a physical activity component to the health promotion classes and the health and leadership program. Also as part of this agreement, A2A membership scholarships will be available for people with disabilities and their caregivers.

The Adolescent Leadership Council (TALC)
The Adolescent Leadership Council (TALC) brings together adolescents treated in several subspecialty clinics at Hasbro Children's Hospital with Brown University student mentors, also with chronic conditions, with the dual goal of 1) providing social support for adolescents with chronic medical conditions and 2) providing a forum to discuss and improve the experience of being a child with a chronic illness cared for at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Additionally, TALC serves as a catalyst to improve the overall care and quality of life for children in Rhode Island with chronic medical conditions, as well as a support to help young adults through the transition from adolescence to independence and/or college.
