INFORMATION FOR PROVIDERS
Read what your colleagues are saying about KIDSNET
“Our office joined KIDSNET in 1998 to help track our immunization usage for the state. We now use the KIDSNET website all the time. We generated a list of patients missing immunizations and are in the process of bringing those children up-to-date. We have used it to find out hearing screen results, lead test results, and dates of Hepatitis B vaccines done in the hospital. When we have a transfer from another practice in Rhode Island, we can often find their immunization records on the KIDSNET website.”
Kimberley Townsend, MD Pediatric Associates, Inc
“When there is a language barrier, difficulty in collecting information, or the previous provider is not accessible, KIDSNET helps. KIDSNET data tell me if the child is behind on vaccinations. I also use KIDSNET to collect lead screening outcomes.”
Debra Filardo, MD Bristol County Pediatrics
“KIDSNET represents the perfect integration between primary care and the state. This program, the work of the specialists within the program, and the efforts of the primary care community have made Rhode Island’s child immunization rate one of the highest in the nation. I see no reason not be a part of the KIDSNET program.”
John Bossian, DO, FAAFP Main Street Family Practice Chairman of the Board Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians
“KIDSNET saves me time by honing in on what needs to be done. Reviewing my charts by hand is a time consuming process and I still miss a few needed vaccines (example: the child has the vaccine but a few days before the approved earliest date, an error I may not catch). Generating a practice immunization report monthly puts the catch up data all in one convenient place, makes my job easier, and helps improve my practice!”
Lynn Ho, MD North Kingstown Family Practice
"The KIDSNET registry in RI allows our staff rapid access to information on new patients including information that is often difficult to obtain, such as WIC activity and hearing and metabolic screening. Access by school nurses and other approved minimizes the need for producing records and reports from our office, saving staff time and facilitating improved patient care. With access to the available information, we can avoid delays in catch-up immunizations.
KIDSNET is a lead into electronic records and allows our staff to produce a variety of reports for identifying patients that need follow up. KIDSNET is frequently used in our office to optimize capturing children with delayed immunizations or lead screening."
Robert T Burke, MD
MHRI Primary Care Pediatric Center
“KIDSNET has proven to be a tremendous asset to our healthcare providers and the patients we serve at Northwest Community Health Care. We utilize the system on a regular basis to ensure that we are taking advantage of opportunities to immunize at each visit. The system allows us to generate recalls and reminders for immunizations and lead screenings and drives activities to identify areas for improvement in following the ACIP recommendations for immunization practices. KIDSNET has allowed us to improve our immunization practices and assist us in reaching our goal of 100% childhood vaccination rates.”
Andrea Marcott RNP
Northwest Health Center
“For various reasons, parents sometimes fail to bring immunization information when they register their children for school. Because this is required documentation for school enrollment, the child’s entry to school is delayed. KIDSNET provides easy and immediate access to immunization information thereby, facilitating the child’s timely entry to school.”
Deborah L. Svitil, RN Program Supervisor of Nursing Services Cranston School Nurse Teacher
