What mothers are saying about PRAMS

What new mothers are saying the need for mental health and substance abuse services

"No one ever asked questions about my life and feelings towards the baby during my pregnancy. I was going through a very difficultpregnant woman time and struggling with a bad case of depression. Also, struggling with feelings of resentment towards the baby. Always afraid I would not be a good mother and not sure how I really felt about being a mother. I longed to enjoy the pregnancy but seldom did. Could've used a health care provider who pried a little and probably counseling (which I am in now). Luckily I had a great friend who saw me through the worst, otherwise would've been lost & alone."

"Any mother using drugs during their pregnancy should be informed of drug treatment facilities in RI-- especially of one for mothers and their babies.""I have been somewhat depressed and I have sought out help.""I loved my doctor, but not much was spoken about depression . . . I think it's very important if it's your first pregnancy . . . depression should not be taboo . . . It would be nice to receive a phone call around 4 weeks post-pregnancy to ask how the mother is feeling."

"I wish there was more support for mothers who have lost their babies. This was a very difficult time for me and my husband."

"I am suffering from severe post partum depression and have sought help. I hope this info helps you on your mission."
