Community Health Network Programs for Tobacco

QuitWorks-RI

  • The QuitWorks-RI Program also provides free tobacco cessation services through the Rhode Island Smokerís Helpline. Smokers and tobacco users may ask their healthcare provider, counselor or other mental health professional for a referral to receive free cessation support services. This referral enables the healthcare provider to closely follow the smokerís quit journey to track the patientís progress and, if needed, provide additional feedback and support that is clinically proven as safe and effective.

    QuitWorks-RI also provides tobacco cessation educational and technical training to physicians and other healthcare providers.

    Format: Referral from a healthcare provider to the Rhode Island Smokerís Helpline, follow-up reports for the patientís medical record, multi-session telephone counseling, web-based tools, mailed nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) gum, patches, or lozenges (while supplies last).

Rhode Island Smoker's Helpline

  • The Rhode Island Smokerís Helpline is supported by the Rhode Island Department of Health and provides free evidence-based quit smoking counseling sessions by phoneóday or night, seven days a week. Once enrolled, smokers receive customized quit plans, tips for managing cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and triggers, self-help materials, and referrals to other free and low-cost quit smoking programs and services. Eligible callers may also receive free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) gum, patches, or lozenges in two-week supplies by mail while supplies last. To get started, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669). Spanish language support services are also available.
