Healthy Housing

Vision:
All Rhode Islanders have a right to housing that supports their growth, development, and physical and mental health, and provides the opportunity to achieve a positive quality of life throughout the entire lifespan.

What is healthy housing?
According to the National Center for Healthy Housing, healthy housing is housing that is dry, clean, pest-free, ventilated, safe, without contaminants and is maintained.

Seven Steps to Healthy Housing:

  1. Keep it dry
  2. Keep it clean
  3. Keep it pest free
  4. Keep it safe
  5. Keep the air moving
  6. Keep it poison free
  7. Keep it maintained
