Management of Human Resources

The goal of the management of human resources function is to identify and provide the right number of competent staff to meet the needs of patients served by the hospital.

  • The hospital's leaders define the qualifications and performance expectations for all staff positions.
  • The hospital provides an adequate number of staff members whose qualifications are consistent with job responsibilities.
  • The leaders ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, demonstrated, and improved continually.
  • An orientation process provides initial job training and information and assesses the staff's ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
  • The hospital assesses each staff member's ability to meet the performance expectations stated in his or her job description.
  • The hospital ensures that a patient's care will not be negatively affected if the hospital grants a staff member's request not to participate in an aspect of patient care.
