The Rhode Island Board of Examiners in Dentistry ensures that all dentists and dental hygienists practicing in Rhode Island meet the requirements for licensure and comply with the applicable conditions and regulations of the law.

Licenses are renewed annually after assuring compliance for renewal with continuing education, proper equipment, etc.

The Board oversees the investigation of complaints with respect to violations of laws and regulations governing the practice of dentistry and dental hygiene and, if indicated, appropriate disciplinary action is imposed and proper authorities are notified. The Board also conducts inspection of dental offices and dental credentials for those dentist administering nitrous oxide.
