Division of Emergency Medical Services
The Division of Emergency Medical Services, in conjunction with the Ambulance Service Advisory Board is
responsible for the planning, development and administration of a comprehensive statewide plan for emergency
medical services. The Department establishes minimum standards for licensing, vehicles, equipment for
vehicles, personnel, training, communications and the treatment of acutely ill or injured persons by ambulance
and rescue personnel. The Division is responsible for data collection and analysis of the Rhode Island
EMS Ambulance Run Report, the administration of the Comfort One pre-hospital EMS Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) Program
and the conduct of the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMS-C) grant program.
