Office of Health Professionals RegulationNursing Assistant Advisory BoardDisciplinary Action | Rules and Regulations Nursing Assistant Training Programs | Medication Aide Training Programs Application Requests for Nursing Assistants and Medication Aides A Nursing Assistant is a nurse's aide, or orderly; or home health aide who is a paraprofessional, registered, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 23-17.9 of the General Laws, and who is trained to give personal care and related health care and assistance based on his or her level of preparation to individuals who are sick, disabled or infirmed, and who are residents of or who receive services from health care facilities licensed pursuant to Chapter 23-17.9 of the General Laws.

The Rhode Island Department of Health is accessible to the handicapped. Individuals requiring interpreter services for the hearing impaired must notify the Office of Health Professionals Regulation at least 48 hours in advance.
