Internship Opportunities

Many undergraduate and graduate students participate in or are required to fulfill internships as part of their course study. The Department of Health can provide meaningful work that is both challenging and interesting to students. Students can gain valuable work experience, academic credit, references and exposure to future career options. In return, the Department benefits from students completing significant projects and increases the possibility of attracting students to public health careers in the future.

Types of Internships

Workstudy

The student initiates this process by speaking with the college or university to determine if the student is eligible for off campus workstudy. If eligible, the student may then contact the Department of Health to determine if a workstudy internship is available.

Unpaid Internships

  • Academic Credit – The student initiates this process by discussing their interest and nature of the internship with their academic advisor. The Department will make an effort to place the student in a public health program that will meet college or university requirements.
  • Volunteer – The student initiates this process by contacting the Department to discuss public health programs of interest for volunteering.
