DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SELECTS MINORITY HEALTH COORDINATOR

Vania Brown-Small, MS, RN, CS has been selected as the new Minority Health Coordinator at the Rhode Island Department of Health. Ms. Brown-Small started work at the Department of Health on Monday, October 2, 2000. Her duties include staffing the Minority Health Advisory Committee, administering the Minority Health Promotion Grant Program, and coordinating Minority Health initiatives in the Department of Health. Ms. Brown-Small holds Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from the University of Rhode Island. Her previous professional experiences includes: Director of Health & Human Services, Narragansett Indian Health Center, and Administrator, Case Management Services, Newport County Community Mental Health Center, Inc. Ms. Brown-Small was recruited by a Search Committee, which included representation from the Department of Health, the Minority Health Advisory Committee, and the Minority Health Promotion Centers.
