Rhode Island Department of Health and Hoyts Cinema Host Premiere of "Talk to Teens" Campaign
Event: Patricia A. Nolan, MD, MPH Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health will launch "Talk to Teens," a multi-year campaign effort targeting adults and parents with a focus on building positive relationships between adults and teens. The campaign commercials, starring Rhode Island teens, will be premiered on the big screen as part of the event.

The Department of Health conducted extensive research among adults including those raising teens. The research shows the following:
- Parents of teens state that there is a lack of information related to raising teens as compared to the amount of information on parenting newborns and toddlers.
- Almost three-quarters of adults believe that teens get into trouble because they have too much free time.
- Three out of four adults believe teens face problems likes drugs, gangs and crime.
- Two-thirds of adults agree that teens lack good role models.
- An overwhelming 92% of adults believe that talking and listening to teens can make a difference in their lives.
The "Talk to Teens" campaign challenges adults to build caring relationships with teens and provides information and resources to help them succeed.
