Media Release For: Immediate Release HEALTH Recommends Closing Goddard State Beach and the Kent County YMCA to SwimmingThe Department of Health (HEALTH) recommended the closure of Goddard Park State Beach and the Kent County YMCA to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Barrington Town Beach; City Park, Conimicut Point and Oakland Beach in Warwick; part of Third Beach in Middletown, and Warren Town Beach remain closed to swimming. As a reminder, Rhode Island has many excellent beaches. There are currently 115 licensed beaches open throughout the State. PLEASE NOTE: BEACH STATUS MAY CHANGE ON A DAILY BASIS.
