Uniting and empowering 300 youth from all over Rhode Island to become anti-tobacco advocates through the arts.
Featuring: artist, advocate and RI native
YES DUFFY from MTV Road Rules
Featuring: Youth from the national TRUTH campaign
Featuring performances by: Off Tha’ Curb and Many Others!
WHY: To unite and empower youth by connecting the passion and creativity of the arts with skill building and advocacy against Big Tobacco’s predatory tactics in the community.
WHEN: Saturday, March 27, 2004 10 AM – 5 PM
WHERE: Bryant College, Smithfield, RI
WHO: WORD is a statewide youth movement led by Initiatives for Human Development and AS220, John Hope Settlement House, Woonsocket Task Force on Substance Abuse, Progreso Latino, Chariho-Tri Town Task Force, Looking Glass Theater, East Providence Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force, South Providence Neighborhood Ministries, Southside Broad Street and Pawtucket Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force. WORD is funded by the American Legacy Foundation through a grant to the Rhode Island Department of Health, Tobacco Control Program.
