Flu Vaccine Now Available to All Rhode Islanders
Rhode Islanders Encouraged To Seek Flu Vaccine Soon
Patricia A. Nolan, MD, MPH, Director of Health announced today that the remaining flu shots are now available to all those seeking protection from the flu this season. The broadened guidelines, effective immediately, replace restrictions announced last month.
The Department of Health (HEALTH) has scheduled 4 additional clinics that will take place this weekend. It is necessary to sign-up for these clinics. Flu activity in Rhode Island has remained at the widespread level for the past 5 weeks, and the flu season has not peaked in Rhode Island as of yet.
“There is a limited number of flu shots available in Rhode Island, and it is important for people to get vaccinated as soon as possible,” said Nolan. “Every person who waited to get their flu shot helped health officials protect the most vulnerable Rhode Islanders, and we are grateful for that. However, the flu season is not over yet, and people still need to protect themselves,” she added.
