RI Health Department Updates the Hospital Financial Dataset for 2004

Today, the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH) released the Hospital Financial Dataset to include information on RI’s community hospitals and hospital systems for 2004. The Dataset includes 1,600 data elements from the Audited Financial Statements, and is the main source for hospital financial information from HEALTH.

Updating the Dataset continues HEALTH’s efforts to inform the public about Rhode Island’s healthcare system. Interested parties may use this information to evaluate hospital financial performance, and having 4 years’ of historical data provide a good opportunity to look at trends over time.

The Dataset is available on HEALTH’s website . According to the report’s author Bruce Cryan, these data may be downloaded directly as a spreadsheet for analysis. HEALTH will continue to revise the dataset periodically—including announced yearly updates.
