Media Release For Immediate Release Health Department Ends Boil Water Advisory For Pawtucket, Cumberland and Central FallsProvidence, Monday, October 24, 2005: Those served by the Pawtucket and Cumberland Water Systems are no longer advised to boil the water. Water coming from the treatment plant meets the turbidity requirements and is safe to drink. Any potentially contaminated water has been fully flushed from the water system. Residents are reminded to use cold water for cooking and drinking instead of water from the hot water tank. Food establishments may resume normal service after following the “Cleaning and Sanitizing Procedures In Food Establishments” which is posted on the Department of Health website (www.health.ri.gov). The Department of Health will continue to work closely with these water systems to provide safe drinking water to residents in these areas.
