| HEALTH officials recommended re-opening BRISTOL TOWN BEACH, GODDARD MEMORIAL STATE PARK BEACH and WARREN TOWN BEACH for swimming. This recommendation is based on results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. HEALTH will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season.
All remaining Rhode Island licensed beaches that are open for the season, are currently safe for swimming.
As a reminder, the Department of Health discourages water contact in areas within 200 feet of running storm drains. These waters may contain high levels of harmful bacteria, which may cause illness.
