National Leader in Worksite Wellness Research to Speak at HEALTH; Program is Free and Open to the Public and Media

D.W. Edington, Ph.D., Director of the University of Michigan Health Management Research Center is one of the national leaders in the field of worksite wellness research. His research focuses on the precursors of disease and vitality, and his interest is in the relationships between healthy lifestyles, vitality, and quality of life, as they benefit both individuals and organizations.

Dr. Edington does evidence-based research on how individual health promotion, worksite wellness activities, and programs within managed care organizations impact health care cost containment, productivity, and human resource development. He is the author or co-author of over 500 articles, presentations, and several books, including Biology of Physical Activity, Biological Awareness, Frontiers of Exercise Biology, and The One Minute Manager Balances Work and Life.

Dr. Edington will offer a lecture on Worksite Wellness on Monday, November 20, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m at the Auditorium of the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH). (Cannon Building, 3 Capitol Hill, Lower Level, Providence, RI, 02908).

This presentation is free and open to the public and to the media. This program will be of particular interest to individuals from both the public and private sectors who are involved or have an interest in the fields of health-promotion, disease-prevention, and human resources.
