HEALTH Presents Community Partnership Award to Dr. Greigstone Yearwood

The Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH) presented the first individual Community Partnership Awards to Dr. Greigstone Yearwood. HEALTH's Community Partnership Award is presented to individuals and/or groups who engage in exceptional community efforts that support the mission of HEALTH.

For the past three years, including four Saturdays each year, Dr. Yearwood has volunteered his time and his staff to administer free vaccinations to underprivileged residents of Woonsocket's neediest neighborhoods. Dr. Yearwood has vaccinated adults against tetanus and pneumococcal disease. This citywide outreach event is called "Rock the City." This event depends on the generosity and talents of volunteers such as Dr. Yearwood who most graciously volunteers yearly.

Dr. Yearwood is a true community partner. He is selfless with his time and cares about the community and its well-being. He is interested in people, takes time to listen and ask question and he does not hesitate when he knows people are in need. Dr. Yearwood is exemplary in his commitment to community public health, and to each individual fortunate enough to be in his care. His efforts support HEALTH's mission to promote and protect the health and safety of Rhode Islanders.
