National Electronic Disease Surveillance System

NEDSS FOR RHODE ISLAND USERS

The National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, known as people group around a computerNEDSS is a national initiative driven by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to improve the timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and uniformity of surveillance data.  A primary goal of NEDSS is the ongoing manual and automatic capture and analysis of reportable disease data. The NEDSS Base System gives users the ability to enter, manage, and view core demographic and nationally notifiable disease data via the World Wide Web.

The Rhode Island NEDSS project is a response to this national initiative. RI-NEDSS is a new way to report Nationally Notifiable Diseases to the CDC as well as to track RI State Notifiable diseases.

This site is set up to provide RI users of the National Electronic Surveillance System (NEDSS) with the tools and resources needed to effectively operate and navigate within the NEDSS operating system.
