|Special Instructions||PREAUTHORIZATION BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CENTER FOR ACUTE INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND EPIDEMIOLOGY ((401) 222-2577) IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO SPECIMEN SUBMISSION.|
Preferred Specimen: Minimum 2 ml of stool in a clean vial without preservative. Specimens in Cary-Blair collection vials also acceptable.
CLIA regulations require two patient identifiers on the specimen container and the test requisition.

|Transport||Transport within 24 hours of collection. Hold at 2° - 8° C until transport. Transport maintaining refrigerated temperature conditions by surrounding specimen with blue or wet ice.|
