The National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, known as NEDSS is a national initiative driven by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to improve the timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and uniformity of surveillance data. A primary goal of NEDSS is the capture and analysis of reportable disease data. The NEDSS Base System allows users to enter, manage, and view core demographic and nationally notifiable disease data via the World Wide Web.
NEDSS provides an electronic platform from which to track and manage reportable diseases as defined locally by the Rhode Island Department of Health and nationally by the Centers for Disease Contol and Prevention.
