WIC Farmers' Markets provide, fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits and vegetable to WIC participants. WIC provides vouchers to qualifying clients to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at local WIC-approved Farmers' Markets. The Farmer's market vouchers are valid for one season, from June through October.
The expansion of Pop-Up Farmers' Markets' to WIC clinics helped increase the redemption rates and access to healthy local produce for families across Rhode Island. These Pop-Up Markets also offer an opportunity for local farmers to reach new customers.
Some WIC Farmers' Markets across Rhode Island include "Fun at the Farm" events. These events provide hands-on activities, allowing adults and children the opportunity to learn new ways to prepare, and taste, locally grown fruits and vegetables.
