Rhode to Health Coalition
In an effort to expand health promotion/disease prevention efforts in Rhode Island, the Department of Health in collaboration with 16 hospitals in Rhode Island organized the Rhode To Health Coalition. The Rhode To Health Coalition selected physical activity and nutrition as its initial priorities. The first project of the Coalition was to create a Fast Food Prompt which provides consumers with a comparison of high vs. low calorie menu choices at seven national fast food chains in Rhode Island. The 4.5" x 8.5" prompt was designed to fit neatly over automobile visors for handy reference. Over 10,000 of these prompts are being distributed throughout Rhode Island by the hospitals and the Health Department.
The Coalition has created a variety of stairway prompts to encourage the use of stairways for physical activity. These stairway prompts can be used in hospital buildings and disseminated in the community as well.

Walk the Rhode to Health
Walk The Rhode To Health organizes a monthly walk at a different location around the state each month. There is no cost to participate and different walking distances will be scheduled.
The Rhode to Health Coalition created a Healthy Shopping List (en Español) as a tool to help you make healthier choices when shopping for food. The shopping list has spaces for you to write out the items you need to buy at the grocery store as well as healthy suggestions right on the list that you can refer to during your shopping trip.
