The Governor’s Awards for Wellness Innovation

The Governor's Awards for Wellness Innovation program recognizes outstanding organizations for their creative wellness policies and programs. Through this program, the Governor will be recognizing organizations for their innovative programs or policies that address one or more of the following wellness areas:

• Tobacco Control
• Seatbelt Use
• Healthy Weight
• Physical Activity
• Nutrition

As part of the Governor’s Wellness Initiative the Governor aims to cut in half the number of Rhode Islanders with unhealthy and unsafe habits by 2010.

The following organizations are eligible to apply for an award:

• Worksites
• Schools
• Healthcare Organizations
• City or Town Governments
• Community-based and Faith-based Organizations
• Organized Labor
• State Agencies
• Media
