To assess adolescent behavioral health risks using the Youth Risk Behavior Survey.

Health risk behaviors in public school students grades 6 through 12 that contribute to the major causes of death, disease, injury, and social problems.

Key Findings, 2017

  • One in nine (11.6%) of middle school students made a suicide plan.
  • More high school students have felt sad or hopeless in 2017 than in 2011.
  • LGB students and students with disabilites are more than twice as likely to feel sad or hopeless than their peers.
